Brooklyn Nets -10.5 Spread against the Cleveland Cavaliers
Reasoning: The Brooklyn Nets have won 3 of their last 4. They look like they are finding their identity with star player, Kyrie Irving, still holding out on taking the vaccine and therefore, he is still not able to play. However, Kevin Durant is shooting the ball at an impressive 57% Field Goal percentage while dropping 29 a game. If he keeps this up and Nets get the 1-seed in the East, he might have a strong case for MVP. On the other side, we have a big-man-less Cavs team who unfortunately for them has 4 big men out for them: Evan Mobley, Kevin Love, Lauri Markkanen and most importantly, Jarrett Allen. He has played amazingly, averaging 14 points, 11 rebounds, a block and a steal. Allen has clearly shown his worth. With no big men in the picture, I see a long night for the Cavs trying to defend KD and Harden. Nets should win this comfortably.
Phoenix Suns -8 Spread against the Dallas Mavericks
Reasoning: The Phoenix Suns have won their last 9 games. However, last game they didn’t cover the spread in the dying minutes when Jae Crowder missed the last free throw (not intentionally) to keep it a 3 point game and have all the -3.5 bettors (including me) in tears. However, favorites who did not cover the spread, have a 73% chance of covering the spread in their next game. We saw that happen yesterday with the Warriors and Jazz covering the spread after they did not cover it as favorites the game before. On the flip side, we have a Doncic-less Mavs team. With all due respect to Porzingis and Brunson, Luka is the Dallas Mavericks almost in the way that Dirk was the Dallas Mavericks. They are not the same team without him and they will miss him dearly tonight despite being in good form as a team lately.
Washington Capitals Money-line against the Los Angeles Kings
Reasoning: The Washington Capitals won 4 in a row before losing to the Ducks in OT last night. After a heartbreaking loss like last night, they will want to turn it around and win against a Kings team they have had the better of in their last 4 meetings with the Capitals winning all 4 of them. With the Caps having one of the highest scoring offenses on top of a great penalty-killing defense, I see them matching up well against this Kings team. On the other side, we have a Kings team that is coming off a tough loss but in a game which they were the heavy underdogs anyway. With the Caps losing a game they were the favorites in, they will have more motivation to not make it two favorable losses in a row.
