A Retrospective: Derrick Roses MVP season

*Taking a look back on a historic MVP season for Derrick Rose.

2010-2011 NBA season

It’s been almost 10 years since the landscape of the NBA changed forever after LeBron James signed with the Miami Heat. With the 2019-2020 NBA season starting I want to take a look back on the 2010-2011 NBA season & Derrick Roses historic MVP win. It’s insane to think how different the NBA was back then. Kobe was still in his prime, LeBron, Wade, & Bosh had just teamed up, the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA Finals, & Derrick Rose won the leagues NBA MVP. Derrick Rose became the youngest MVP in NBA history averaging 25.0 Points, 4.1 Rebounds, and 7.7 assists in only his third season in the league. The 22 Y/O Rose was dropping 25 while shooting around 45% from the field. His dominant performances as the starting Point Guard for the Chicago Bulls led them to the #1 seed & an appearance in the ECF against a LeBron James led Miami Heat. Fans around the world starting becoming Derrick Rose fans after he displayed his Athleticism & Vision on the biggest stages. Slashing to the rim & cutting through players to get to the rim became a stable of Roses game, even today after multiple injuries Rose has continued to shock the world. Personally, I remember despising Rose & the Bulls but today I have come to appreciate him for his work ethic, passion, & brilliance has made Rose a fan favorite to be remembered forever.
