NBA Rookie of the Year

                   Ben Simmons or Donovan Mitchell?

Dylan Devine / May 4th, 2018

Why Ben Simmons should be ROTY: After missing his first year due to an injury, Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard Ben Simmons came back from his injury and had an outstanding 2017-2018 season. The Rookie has a nonexistent outside game and because of that he has become one of the best inside scorers in the league. Simmons finished third in the league for most triple doubles scoring a total of 12 this season. Along with helping the 76ers get the third seed in the east, Simmons led to Sixers to the playoffs for the first time since 2011. He finished the regular season averaging 15.8 PPG, 8,1 RPG, and 8.2 APG.

Why Donovan Mitchell should be ROTY: Donovan Mitchell was one of the most surprising rookie’s this season and has made this a two man race for the award. After the Utah Jazz lost Gordon Hayward they lacked a solid offensive leader and Mitchell has filled that void. He has been the primary scorer for the Jazz this season and led them to the playoffs. Mitchell has become one of the most explosive players in the NBA and has become a legitimate star. The “Spida” finished the regular season averaging 20.5 PPG, 3.7 APG, and 3.7 RPG.
