NBA WEEKLY RECAP (11/6-11/13)
EASTERN CONFERENCE – Dylan
Star of the week : Joel Embiid. The big man racked up 42 points, four blocks, and 18 rebounds on Friday against the Hornets then went on to score 35 points and grab 18 rebounds against the Heat on Monday.
Who’s hot : Kyrie Irving. He seems to slowly be getting back into the groove of things. Irving had a great game against the Suns on Thursday with a stat line of 39 points, three steals, six assists, and seven rebounds.
Who’s cold : Jaylen Brown. This season Brown has yet to shoot better than 50% in any game this season and is just 21 for 50 on layups. He is having a real rocky beginning to his third year.
Division leader: Toronto Raptors (12-2)
Star of the week : Zach LaVine. LaVine played three games this week and put up a total of 72 points, six steals, 14 assists, and 18 rebounds. He has been on fire this season.
Who’s hot : Giannis Antetokounmpo. Putting up 27 points, five steals, two blocks, four assists and 18 rebounds in a game gives you this spot.
Who’s cold : The Cleveland Cavaliers. This team is atrocious. The Cavaliers are currently (1-11) and are on track to have the worst record in NBA history.
Division leader : Milwaukee Bucks (10-3)
Star of the week : Hassan Whiteside. Whiteside had a huge game on Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs where he put up a double-double while almost scoring a triple double with blocks. 29 points, nine blocks, and 18 rebounds.
Who’s hot : Taurean Prince. Prince had two big games this week in which one he scored 23 points on 9-13 shooting and the other he put up 22 points on 8-14 shooting.
Who’s cold : The Atlanta Hawks. They haven’t won a single game this week which rightfully makes them freezing cold.
Division leader : Charlotte Hornets (7-6)
WESTERN CONFERENCE – Jordan
Star of the week : CJ McCollum. He was named Western Conference Player of the Week for a reason. Highlighted by a 40 point game, he averaged 25.7 PPG and shot 50.8 %.
Who’s hot : D rose. He is one of the hottest players in all of the NBA. 21, 31, 21, 23. Vintage.
Who’s cold : The Denver Nuggets. After starting 9-1, they are now 9-5 at the end of the week due to some bad shooting percentages from leaders Jamal Murray and Garry Harris.
Division leader : Portland Trailblazers. (10-3)
Star of the week : LeBron James. The Lakers are starting to win. He is not only the star of the week, but the star of the entire NBA.
Who’s hot : Montrezl Harrell. He had a great week averaging 22.6 PPG on a shooting percentage of 80.
Who’s cold : Phoenix Suns. They are one of the worst teams in all of basketball but their ice cold 0-4 week didn’t help them.
Division leader : Golden State Warriors. (12-3)
Star of the week : Anthony Davis. Great week for the brow. 27.6 PPG, and 16 RPG.
Who’s hot : The Dallas Mavericks. After starting the season 2-7 they finished the week going 3-1.
Who’s cold : James Ennis III. He starts for a team that went to the WCF last year. In 3 out of 4 games he averaged 2.3 PPG, shooting a field goal percentage under 10. His last game he put up double digit scoring numbers so hopefully he is turning the corner.
Division leader : Tie between San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies (7-5)
