Should Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat be in the MVP discussion? The short answer to this question is yes. Although Jimmy has missed 14 of the Heat’s 41 games so far he has played so well that he deserves to be in MVP talks. The Heat are 4-10 without him and 18-9 with him in the lineup. So that alone should show you how big an impact he has on winning. Butler is averaging almost 22 PPG along with 7.5 RPG & 7.6 APG. He’s also one of the better free throw shooters in the league and could control the game by getting to the line at anytime. Not to mention he’s an All-Defensive team candidate as well from averaging 2.1 SPG while guarding some of the leagues greatest players. It’s undeniable that statistically Butler is the best player in Miami since DWade. But it’s not just about the stats with Butler, it’s his leadership and attitude that makes him top 5 in the MVP conversation for me. His teammates respect him as he leads the Miami Heat by example. He embodies what Heat culture means to the the organization. A hard worker who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. Butler earned the respect of his peers around the league last season after a shocking finals run but he is clearly after more than just that. He wants to prove his doubters wrong and bring the Miami Heat back to the top of the mountain in spectacular fashion.
