Trouble Insight For The Lakers?

Written By Nicolas Papa (3-21-21)

The Lakers received troubling news yesterday when LeBron James was ruled out indefinitely with an ankle sprain. The team is already without Anthony Davis who hasn’t played since February 14th. The Lakers have held their own without their superstar big man but with LeBron also out now the Lakers could be looking at some big time trouble. The West is looking tighter then ever and with a record of 28-14 the Lakers are only 2.5 games back of first place but only 6.5 games ahead of the 9th place Golden State Warriors. A scenario where the Lakers fall out of the playoffs isn’t probable but is always possible. The biggest worry from an outside standpoint is their seeding. Even with COVID home court advantage is still very much a thing, plus they probably don’t want to run into the Nuggets or Clippers in the first round of the playoffs. With James out for an extended period of time and a Davis return no where in site the Lakers will need guys like Dennis Schroder, Kyle Kuzma, & Montrez Harrell to step up with fantastic performances to keep the team in a position of comfort heading into the final stretch of the season. Can the Lakers role players keep it moving or will they drown in a deep Western Conference? Only time will tell.
